        Downtown Naperville – Historic District

The Naperville Historic District is a designation granted by the Naperville City Council in 1986 to buildings, structures and sites that represent the city’s most important cultural and historical heritage. Currently, the city has approximately 320 properties within this district, including part of the North Central College Campus as well as 253 homes. The homes in this special neighborhood were built as early as the 1860s and showcase architectural styles like Four-Square, Cape Cod, and, of course, the stately Victorian.  Current and future residents in the historic district are encouraged to improve their properties through renovation, rehabilitation and repairs that are consistent with the historic character of the neighborhood. Families enjoy walks to their neighborhood schools Ellsworth elementary, Washington Junior High and Naperville North High School. Not to mention, the Historical District is conveniently located just steps from everything that downtown Naperville has to offer including restaurants, shopping and the Metra Train Station. What a great neighborhood when you have the convenience to walk to everything! The best part of it is meeting up with neighbors as you stroll by that are relaxing on their front porches.
