Downtown Plainfield
The Village of Plainfield, Illinois was established in 1834. After a series of fires in the late 1880s and an infamous tornado in 1990, Downtown Plainfield has been built back stronger and better than ever. It’s now one of the nation’s fastest growing cities. The downtown area offers a variety of single-family homes, condos, townhouses. Numerous homes have been denoted as local historic landmarks as they represent the city’s most important cultural and historical heritage.
Families can enjoy walks to their neighborhood schools including Plainfield Central High School. Downtown Plainfield offers a multitude of activities like dining at one of the many restaurants, exploring the local shops, visiting the library and even kayaking on the DuPage River. There are also many trails connecting to the downtown area for biking and hiking. Throughout the year, Plainfield hosts holiday parades, festivals, car shows, and much more.
